Not sure why I painted this since Halloween is quite far away and I have not seen a pumpkin or anything remotely halloweeny in months...but here is my Pumpkin Head:
I'm just putting a few last minute touches on it now, but thought I would share what I have so far.

Excellent Saturday
Coffee (in my TOTALLY AWESOME marauder's map mug) and croissants for breakfast.
Browsing the weekly paper on Saturday morning, Fig noticed that Yann Tiersen would be playing a show in Seattle that night. On a whim we bought tickets (good thing, because the show was sold out that evening) and spent a few nice hours in Seattle. We don't make it a point to visit Seattle very often, but we have so much fun every time we venture up there. The show was at the Neumos Theater which turned out to be a really excellent venue. It was such a change to see a concert in such a small, intimate place compared to the huge, impersonal feel of the venues in Las Vegas. The theater is connected to Moe Bar which has a yummy menu and very nice bartenders. But, being that I am now a crotechty old lady when it comes to concerts and I do not want to stand for 3 hours, I LOVED that the venue had plenty of seating. We spent some of the time watching the opening band from the upper level (amazing view), part of the time on the floor, and the rest of the time relaxing at one of the tables. The group that opened, Breathe Owl Breathe, were pretty great and Mr. Tiersen and his band were amazing, of course.

Maple Leaf Cookies!
If you live near a Trader Joes, I strongly urge you to run there straight away and purchase these yummy cookies.
I LOVE maple-flavored stuff. A few years ago Starbucks made a maple latte available and I could not get enough of it. Seriously, that drink was made for me. These cookies are just regular, tasty sandwich cookies with a little maple flavoring. Just enough to make them smell slightly like a stack of pancakes and not so much that they are overly sugary. The problem with maple stuff is that too much of the sugary flavoring can ruin it. Like real maple candy or maple walnut fudge, both delicious but too much sugar. One bite and it feels like your teeth are going to fall right out! Anywho, try these cookies, they are super!

Shakabrah!
Last week Fig and I had breakfast/brunch twice at an awesome breakfast cafe on 6th ave in Tacoma. The french toast at Shakabrah Java is perfect. Seriously. The. Best. French. Toast. EVER.

The weekend is too short...but at least I have this beautiful new mug!
I want to lobby for a 3-day weekend. I think 4 days is more than enough time to get work-related stuff done. I'm sad the weekend is nearly over...it goes too fast! Valentine's day is almost here and the pink and red stuff have been in the stores for weeks. I'm not sure if I'll be sending out many valentines this year, (though I should make a decision soon!) but I was at the market and saw these pickled treats, which immediately made me think of a dear friend and I will be sending them to her for V-day.
I've never seen pickles to go! It cracks me up and I'm sure she will get a kick out of them, too.
Also, I noticed one of my favorite Etsy shops had a few "slightly imperfect" items for sale so I snapped them up! I received the first item in the mail this weekend and I think its perfect! I can't find a single flaw. Beautiful work and packaging. If you are a Jane Austen fan or you just love pretty, well-made goods, check out Brookish!
