Magnets

I spent a few hours today creating a few tins of Halloween-themed glass marble magnets. Just have to print the tin labels and tidy them up a bit and they will be ready for listing in the shop!

Its a set of seven magnets, two large and five small in an Altoids-sized tin. My tins came from Tin Supply. Great service and super-fast shipping.

Seattle adventures

Being unemployed and being at home more than ever has made me a little stir crazy. While I do enjoy being able stay up late, sleep in, stay in my pajamas all day, and basically do whatever I want, its difficult to adjust to. So I finally dragged Fig to Seattle for a late morning/afternoon of adventures! We parked a few blocks away from the Pike Street Market and walked downhill the rest of the way.

Our first stop was Le Panier, a little French bakery right on Pike Street across from the Market. We picked up a few yummy pastries (chocolate croissant and a few souffles) and enjoyed a late morning breakfast in the park beside the Market. Later on in the day, when we were leaving Pike Street, I picked up a box of macarons from the bakery...its the end of the day and they're almost gone! So delish.

There's so much good stuff to see/eat/buy at Pike Street. We browsed some great used bookstores, checked out lots of locally made goods, admired the beautiful fresh produce, and people watched.

Wall of gum on Post Street underneath/behind the Market. WTF.
Inside the Market. 2nd floor, I think.

Lamplight Books at the Market

The famous Pike Street Pig.

Do you see the hidden beast?

So much fresh, delicious looking produce.

It was a misty day.

The famous fish market! We didn't see any flying fish today.

Enjoying a refreshing peach-ginger iced tea and the beautiful fall leaves.

After we left the Market, we headed north to Green Lake. We parked by the lake, bought some lunch from Urban Bakery, and found a picnic table by the lake to eat lunch and enjoy the beautiful day.

Yummy turkey sandwich; nothing special, just fresh goodness.
Green Lake

Fun, leafy trail by the lake.

Apartment warming fun!

I spent most of yesterday napping with the cat and watching DVDs of Friends. Yes, it was a good day. Speaking of Friends, we received a wonderful package from one of our very dear friends in the mail last week. One of our inside jokes/great thing about our friendship is that we bonded over watching DVDs of Friends and playing Mario Kart when we lived together and didn't have cable. So now everything is a joke about Friends or Mario Kart.

In one of the seasons, Ross moves into a new apartment and Phoebe brings him a home-warming gift of 'salt so your life always has flavor, bread so you never go hungry, and a scented candle for the bathroom cause, well, you know...' So that is what we got in the mail! How awesome is that!?! So creative and thoughtful.

Oh and there were also a set of Jack Skelington coasters from Disneyland (!) in the package! This is a picture of them in use, don't they look awesome!?!

Bike ride fail.

We went on a bike ride today...kind of. There are several beautiful parks near us, but the one we often seem to find ourselves exploring is Wright Park. It's a beautiful arboretum park, with many interesting varieties of trees and a beautiful conservatory to check out. We haven't made it to the conservatory yet, but soon. We attempted to ride the secondhand bikes we brought from Las Vegas (Fig has been working to fix them up), but I managed to run into a fence less than a minute after we got on them. Fail.

And then there was this strange car parked a few buildings down from us as we walked home. What could that possibly be strapped to the roof of the car? It has a saddle!

Buttons and magnets

A snapshot of my evening:
Working at my messy desk, testing out a few glass marble magnet ideas. Also, musing over the cute Halloween ribbon and buttons I picked up at Michaels Craft store.
Check these buttons out, aren't they the cutest?
Man, I love Halloween.

Gnome Homes!

Just added these to the shop! I made both of these 'Gnome Homes' a while ago, just finally getting around to putting them up for sale. It was really fun making them, I hope people enjoy them as much as I do. I think the jar home reminds me of Hagrid's hut, must be the pumpkin. The box makes me think of a secret tea party I might have stumbled on...I picture twinkle lights, whimsical music, and good company.

We made it!

We finally made it to Tacoma! The drive in went relatively well, we didn't stop over night, just drove straight from Las Vegas to Tacoma. We left in late in the morning on Saturday and arrived early Sunday morning. Here is a pic of the Snoqualmie Mts early in the morning.
The fog over the trees was pretty awesome.

We spent the next few days without internet, catching up on sleep, and exploring our new neighborhood. There are some pretty beautiful parks around us, lots of cool bars and shops, and tons of cute houses. Tuesday we browsed the Tacoma Farmers Market and picked up some fresh veggies and yummy treats.
What are these?!

These AMAZING little nugget donuts came from this vendor. Warm, fresh, melt-in-your-mouth delish donuts.
